Makes Good Coffee - Works Well for Camping

I bought this primarily for use when camping, but I have also found myself using it instead of my regular drip coffee maker when I want to make coffee only for myself. With a little experimentation to find what you like, this coffee maker can produce very good coffee at any strength desired, from weak to strong. I like my coffee strong, so I let it steep for 3 or 4 minutes and pour more of the water through than suggested in the manufacturer's directions.

I consider the design of this coffee maker to be an improvement on the traditional French press due to its good filtration and easy clean up using the syringe plunger. However, while it will replace my French press, it will not replace my automatic drip coffee maker because it can't produce a whole pot of coffee conveniently.

The only thing that would make this coffee maker better for me is a slight reduction in size so it would fit in the extra cooking cup for my Jet-Boil camping stove. Even though it is a bit bulkier than ideal for backpacking, however, I still think it is worth bringing along so I can have good coffee any time with minimal clean-up.

Amazing difference!

I bought the Aeropress after reading great reviews on several different websites. It is ridiculously easy to use, and making four cups of coffee takes no longer than making one. It's unbelievable that such good coffee can be so fast and easy to make - I love the included coffee scoop and markings right on the Aeropress tube that make it simple to get measurements right even before you have your morning caffeine.

I tested the Aeropress head-to-head against a regular drip coffeemaker today, making only one cup in each. First, I loaded the drip maker and turned it on. Before it was even done brewing a single cup, I had assembled the Aeropress, added the coffee, heated the water, pressed the concentrated coffee, and diluted it to Americano strength. Including boiling the water in the microwave, the whole Aeropress process took about three minutes. (Disclaimer: I live at very high altitude, so water boils more quickly and at a lower temp - I don't bother trying to hit the exact temp Aeropress recommends, which likely requires more attention.)

One sip of each was all it took. The Aeropress coffee was smooth and mild-tasting, even with a dark roast. The drip coffee was unbelievably bitter - no wonder I usually need to add tons of sugar and milk. Needless to say, the drip coffee went straight down the drain.

The price is right, too - it's tough to find even a poor-quality drip coffeemaker for much less. And it's portable, so you can use it in the office, while traveling, camping - anywhere you can get hot water. And for those who hate having to wait for drip coffee to brew just so they can have a single cup, I can tell you this is an impatient person's dream!

Great little coffee press

I have been looking for a compact espresso maker for camping. I was going to go with a stove top model when I ran across this little beauty on google. All of the good reviews you have read are true. It does take a LOT of coffee, but the brew is fantastic. My girlfriend has always taken milk with her coffee, and doesn't now because she doesn't need to. We put our drip coffee machine in the cupboard.

I did find it neccesary to get a burr grinder. I was using a blade grinder before and it wasn't cutting it for fineness. You really do need some pretty fine coffee to make this thing work, and fresh ground it far superior to day old ground. Also, find a local roaster and make certain that you always use beans that have been roasted for less than two weeks. And please, for the love of pete, don't use Starbucks beans. They over roast them terribly.

AeroPoess Works quite well

The AeroPress has worked quite well for me for the past three weeks. It's simple to use and the directions are easy to understand. It's a snap to clean after use as well. As a bonus it easy to pop out the used grounds and save them for composting and as an acid soil amendment.

Better than the expensive machines

I had first tried this product when my friend bought one, and I was shocked when it produced a better cup of espresso than my machine and was less than $30. It really works, delivers all the flavor without the bitter edge you would get with other machines...
