Twinings Earl Grey Tea, Tea Bags, 50-Count Boxes (Pack of 6)

This is as good a deal for this tea as it gets...I love Earl grey tea and drink it almost exclusively. There are other brands that are good, but for the money Twinings is the best, you will not find it in the grocery stores this cheap, even on sale!

It is not the Wonderful Twinings Earl Grey you have come to know and love. They have pulled a "new coke" blunder and now the best Earl Grey tea ever is available no more! This tea is weak and tasteless.
I hate stupidity, especially from corporate marketers.

The newly re-packaged Twinings Earl Grey tea (has the word "CLASSICS" on the package) is much, much weaker than the previous Twinings Earl Grey tea. If you used and like to the old teas, then you won't like the new version. I wonder if they have weakened the Britsh version of Twinings Earl Grey Tea?

Ah... Earl Grey... one of the finest black teas. Being a Star Trek fan (Star Trek The Next Generation), I was first introduced to Earl Grey by Picard's famous quote, "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot." Being curious, I popped out a tea bag of coincidentally Twining's Earl Grey and brewed the tea. Ah... the first sip of Earl Grey was heavenly. It can soothe like camomile and it is also quite strong. The great smell of the tea comes from the oil of bergamont which I might add smells great on a cold winter day.

Twining's Earl Grey has a great balance of black teas and the bergamont oil. Bigelow's balance seems to be tipped more towards the bergamont side. Twinings is a great company and they certainly know their teas. I've been drinking Earl Grey everyday (like Picard) which provides me a time to relax and stray away from the rigors of life.

Twinings was founded in London, England in 1706, and has a long and respected tradition of producing only the finest of teas. Earl Grey tea was named after Charles Grey, Second Earl Grey (1764-1845), and is a mixture of black tea and oil of bergamot (a small acidic orange). It is said that Earl Grey learned the recipe of this delicious tea from a Chinese Mandarin and brought it home to England, where it has been a favorite ever since.

OK, let's get down to brass tacks - this is a great tea, produced by a great company, and is my all-time favorite. The tea produced has a wonderful aroma, and an excellent taste. But, a couple of words of warning - don't over-steep the tea, or it will quickly become bitter and unpalatable. Also, while sugar goes well with this tea, I have found that milk dilutes the bergamot too much, and lemon completely hides the bergamot which is the reason for drinking it!

That's my review. If you want a wonderful smelling and tasting black tea, then Earl Grey is for you. If you want tea from a great tea producer, them Twinings is for you. If you want a nectareous drink, then buy Twinings' Earl Grey tea!
