Hot Coffee
The one thing I have found lacking in most coffee machines is the ability to produce a hot cup of "joe". However, this Braun makes it hot & keeps it hot. I also appreciate the hot plate turning off automatically after 2 hours. Great product!

filter door flips open - causes mess
I got this Braun as a replacement for my 10 year old Braun.
2 complaints-

1) I've noticed a plastic taste with several coffee makers..I'll live with the Braun for 2 weeks and see if it dissipates...if not it goes back. Krups was by far worse in the plastic taste department, so at least Braun it might be OK with some time.

2) The spring loaded filter door latch doesn't firmly hold the filter in the closed position. It pops open and water drips everywhere, since the coffee filter is in the "out" position. I initially used scotch tape to hold the filter door closed. Then I partly disassembled the top and removed the torsion spring. Now the door stays closed. The button to release the door is not needed anyway. For years I just pulled the filter door in or out, and never thought anything fancier gizmo was needed.

I'd have been happier if Braun spent money on better plastic materials with less outgassing...I don't like drinking plastic-flavored coffee.

Great coffee, brewed fast!!
This coffeemaker did everything it was advertised to do. It brews delicious coffee with ease in the blink of an eye. Seriously the fastest brewing machine I have ever seen. The design, in typical Braun fashion is well thought out in that it has only four buttons-On/Off, Auto, and hours and minutes. By holding down the On/Off you can program when your machine should automatically shut off (I set mine at 1 hour and 12 minutes). By holding down the Auto button you can set the time for when you want your brew to begin. Other machines have had a separate button for each of these functions, and not only is it intuitive but it just makes sense! In a word it is excellent.

Bad Coffee
This purchase was very disappointing. Although it's attractive, it is designed in a strange way in regard to the basket and how it attachs to the rest of the product. No instructions about this and putting it together was a real headscratcher for a klutz like me. Unfortunately, it turned out to make rather bad coffee as well. If I want a decent cup of coffee,I'm afraid I will be forced to buy a replacement for this product.

Not bad -- just wish the coffee was hotter
My wife and I love to wake up to hot coffee every morning. We used to own a Braun coffee maker with a timer, and it worked well for us for many years. When it finally bit the dust, we pulled out a Gevalia coffee maker that we got for free. We hated it, mainly because it was difficult to fill without splashing water over the kitchen counter, and the coffee just wasn't as hot as our old Braun. I did quite a bit of research online, and used the reviews from Amazon and Consumer Reports to decide which coffee maker to buy next. I settled on this one, mainly because I bought the scaled down version (without the timer) to use at work and it was easy to fill and clean. My wife and I do enjoy this one, but the coffee just isn't as hot as what came out of our old one. It is easy to use, and does a reasonably good job. Setting the timer is straightforward. The only other criticism I have is I wish it made 12 cups.
