Junk - Don't waste your time or money on it
All the settings are too coarse for even a drip machine. Forget about using for an expresso machine. The top burr grinder vibrates loose from the bottom burr after grinding about 6 cups worth of beans, and needs to be "cleaned" and "relocked" before grinding again. The static causes the grinds to fly everywhere. There is no way to return it or even speak to customer service. A waste of time and $30. I am going to put this thing in the garbage and buy a real grinder - like a Solis. I tried to save money and I ended up wasting $30. 2006-01-31

Works well, until it dies...
Mine worked well for a few months, then one day just simply stopped working. I went over & over all the auto-off locking mechanisms on the device to make sure that wasn't the problem, but to no avail. Simply stopped working (perhaps a blown interior fuse?). And the nearest authorized service rep is over a 1.5 hr drive away. 2006-01-21

Coffee dust = bitter coffee
I have had this grinder for over a year. I'm shopping for a replacement, and when this model popped up on Amazon, I decided to write a review and perhaps save others the trouble.
My reason for wanting to replace it is that it creates a fair amount of coffee dust, regardless of the grind setting. Even after sifting the grounds through a screen, there is still enough dust remaining to make my coffee very bitter and unpleasant to drink. Every single cup of coffee I have made using grounds from this grinder has been bitter. I primarily use a French press, but I get the same result in a drip maker. I've been fiddling with the water to grounds ratio, water temps, brew times, etc for a year and I have concluded that the bitterness is not my fault--it's the grinder's.
There has to be a better grinder at the same price level (or even a lower one). I wouldn't recommend this model to anyone.

Can make espresso grind if "hacked"
I bought this burr mill over a year ago and had been disappointed that it did not produce acceptable espresso grind (it was far too course even at the fine setting), although it produced a nice, coarse grind for my French press. Due to its design, I don't feel like I am getting it completely clean when I remove the top burr and use a brush (as directed in the manual); I would think that residual oils from the beans accumulate on the gears. It is the first mill or grinder that I've owned and for the price is quite good, in my opinion (assuming no need for espresso grind). That was until this morning. I happened to read the review by E. H. Hanks "Radtek", in which he detailed a clever modification he made which allows for a much finer grind suitable for espresso. I just pulled a shot of espresso after making the modification and I'm even more satisfied with this Mr. Coffee product now.
Thanks, Radtek.

Great for the money
After reading the reviews here on Amazon, I bought a Capresso at WS but didn't have a chance to open it when I saw this one at Target for one-fifth (!) the price. My frugal side (you know, the little angel on the right shoulder) told me to try it out while that little extravagent devil said "hey, you already spent the money and bought the other one. go ahead, live a little." Well, I'm glad I bought this one and have to contribute to the positive reviews here.
I must say that I only use a drip maker (Cuisinart) so I can't comment on course grinds for press makers or fine grinds for espresso machines. So, limited to that and taking into account that this was my first burr grinder, I thought it did a good job.
Little did I know that my wife had already bought me a Cuisinart at Costco (for less money, as it turns out) for Chanukah. I must say that, as good as I thought this one was, the Cuisinart is that much better and you-know-who REALLY likes her morning coffee now.
