Are there other choices
I'm not aware of any other filters that will fit the Capresso - except these.. I've puchased them many times before and I have never had a issue with poor quality or breakage. Expensive, but worth it. 2008-03-22

A must have
I have 2 capresso MT-500 and this is a must-have for good coffee, if you have a maker where these fit. It is true that charcoal filters remove some of the natural flavors of water, but it also removes a crapload of the bad stuff and chlorine and stuff that politicians thinks it is smart to put in the tap water... 2008-01-28

Size matters
I searched for the filters for my coffee maker by looking for the coffee maker and seeing what Amazon 'suggested' people buy with it...big mistake. The filters are the wrong size. There's probably nothing wrong with the filters, but since SIZE MATTERS, I can't tell you for sure. Happy searching! 2007-12-22

Filter McNuggets
These are very simple. They are activated charcoal inside a filter shaped like a little plug. Water has to travel through it before it is heated and showered over the coffee grounds. The activated charcoal reduces the chlorine taste of the water, which can give coffee an off taste, depending on how strong it is. The filter keeps the charcoal contained, but also keeps any stray coffee grounds that may have made it into the water chamber from landing on the heating element.
Activated charcoal does have a shelf life, and will absorb odors from the air if you don't keep it tightly wrapped, so don't buy too many of these in advance or they won't stay fresh.

Water filters work
I use a Capresso 440 (10-cup) coffee maker, we have been using it for about 2-3 years. The Caresso 4440.90 filters are the replacement filters for filtering the water to be used in making the coffee. I buy them through Amazon because they are cheap and the delivery costs are low. The filters work just fine, no problems. The Capresso 440 counts the number of batches of coffee, and the calendar time, and alerts the user when it is time to replace the filter. It seems to be about every 3-4 months. 2007-06-14
